Troubleshooting fertilizer dosing calculator issues, volume calculations, dosing regime selection, and schedule notification settings
Cannot select aquarium from the list
Solutions:
- Create an aquarium profile in the "Aquariums" section, then your aquarium will appear in the dropdown list
- Enter volume manually in the "Select aquarium or enter volume" field
- Check internet connection for data synchronization
Incorrect volume calculations
Symptoms:
- Dosages are too large or too small
- Element concentrations don't match expectations
Solutions:
- Check aquarium volume — ensure the volume is correctly specified in aquarium settings
- Account for net volume of the aquarium (excluding substrate, decorations, equipment)
Required fertilizer not in the list
Solutions:
- Enable the "Branded" toggle (turns green) to add all fertilizers from the service database
- Add fertilizer manually in the "Fertilizers" section
- Check spelling of the fertilizer name
Dosing regime selection not working
Solutions:
- Ensure fertilizers are selected — you need to select at least one fertilizer first
- Reload the page and repeat the setup
- Ensure the page is fully loaded and there is internet connection
Incorrect dosing period calculation
Solutions:
- Check the "Period" field — ensure the correct number of days between water changes is specified
- Reset settings and start over
- Use standard values (7 days for weekly cycle)
Dosages are too small and inconvenient to dose
Solutions:
- Increase target element concentrations
- Change dosing regime to "Into water change" for larger single doses
- Use less concentrated fertilizers
- Combine several days into one dose
Dosages seem too large
Solutions:
- Check aquarium volume — incorrect volume may be specified
- Lower target element concentrations
- Split the dose over more days
- Use more concentrated fertilizers
Incorrect concentrations in results
Check:
- Fertilizer composition accuracy — element concentrations in the fertilizer
- Units of measurement — g/L or % in fertilizer composition
- Aquarium volume — does it match actual volume
- Dosages — are fertilizer amounts specified correctly
Schedule not displaying
Solutions:
- Check dosages. A schedule can only be created if dosages have been calculated.
Section loads slowly
Solutions:
- Check internet speed
- Close other tabs/applications
- Restart the application
Schedule is empty
Reason: Dosages not calculated Solution:
- Go to the Dosing section
- Calculate dosages
- Click the "CREATE SCHEDULE" button
Browser doesn't support notifications
Symptoms:
- When trying to enable notifications, a message appears that the browser doesn't support them
- Notifications are unavailable in settings
Solutions:
- Install Google Chrome
- Chrome provides the best compatibility and stable operation of all service features
- Available free for all platforms: Android, iOS, Windows, macOS and Linux
- Download: google.com/chrome
- Open Samomes.com in Chrome
- Allow notifications in browser settings
- Set notification time in the "Schedule" or "Profile" section
Notifications not arriving
Symptoms:
- Notifications are configured but don't arrive on the device
- Missed fertilizer dosing reminders
Check the following conditions:
- Are notifications allowed?
- Ensure you allowed notifications for Samomes in browser and device settings
- Check permissions in operating system settings
- Time zone selected
- Check that the time zone is correct in the "Profile" or "Schedule" section
- Incorrect time zone will result in notifications at inappropriate times
- Notification time set
- Select time for reminders in the "Schedule" section
- Each schedule can have its own time
- There are dosages for this day
- Notifications only arrive on days with scheduled dosing
- Check the schedule for doses on the desired day
- Schedule dates are current
- Ensure schedule dates are not outdated
- Update the schedule if necessary
- Reconnect device
- Go to "Profile" → "Notifications"
- Remove device from the list
- Add it back, re-allowing notifications
- Check after account change
- After relogin (logout and login again) notifications may stop working
- Reconnect device through "Profile" → "Notifications"
